一個長者友善的社區，除了靠照顧者與社福機構的支援，更重要的是靠社會大眾的協作。對於長期獨居長者來說，最常見到的人除了是家人外或許就是樓下大堂的保安。因此，保安多多少少亦會知道大廈內不同長者的情況。社署自2018年10月來開展「護老同行」計劃，邀請各物業管理公司參與。該計劃旨在為前線物業管理人員提供簡單培訓，讓他們懂得如何辨識及協助有需要的長者及護老者，以及掌握區內福利服務的資訊，以便在有需要時可利用社區資源，支援長者居家安老。
相信計劃亦幫助更多物業管理人員了解更多如何為大廈內有需要的長者尋求支援，推動長者居家安老的文化。
