一般而言，綜援與其他公共福利金(長者生活津貼、高齡津貼)均設有離港日數限制。以長者生活津貼為例，申請人需於申請日期前一年前離港日數不超過56天，以符合申請資格。
可是，因應疫情關係很多在內地居住的港人未能回港，因此超出了離港日數限制。而政府已於疫情期間已放寬了此限制，讓離港超過56天的申請人亦能繼續領取長者生活津貼。如申請者/申請者家人仍有疑問，可以向相關社署社會保障辦事處查詢。
