[Sunyu Taiwan] Reducing the burden of raising children with peace of mind and increasing childcare subsidies

Recently Yahoo News reported that modern economic pressure, more and more couples do not dare to have children, recently a husband complained that although there are plans to have a second child, but at present raising a child, every month without food and drink will be spending 55K, worried that another child will be unable to cope with the burden.

Raising children requires a lot of financial expenses, including living, education, medical and other expenses. However, many families do not have a high level of income and are facing financial pressure and burden. Apart from the financial pressure, parents must take care of and accompany their children's growth and learning. Many parents need to work and are unable to devote themselves fully to childcare. Therefore, there is a great need for suitable childcare services, such as childminders, childcare centers, and nurseries.

A single mother (pseudonym: Siu On) has a one-year-old daughter. She has to go to work every day and take care of her daughter after work, which makes her life very difficult. She has no friends or relatives to take care of her, and often feels like she's about to collapse and doesn't know what to do.

One day, Xiao An saw Sunyu Academy's introduction of childcare welfare resources on the Internet and left a message that she needed assistance. After consulting with Sunyu Academy online, we understood the difficulties that Xiao An was currently facing. After the online consultation, we learned about the difficulties Siu On was facing. We introduced the childcare subsidy service to Siu On and carefully instructed her on the documents she needed to prepare and the application process. In the end, Siu On was able to find a suitable childcare center and apply for the subsidy, and her daughter was well taken care of. Siu On is very thankful to Sunyu Academy for their help, which helped her to overcome the financial pressure and solve her daughter's care problems.

113 Years of Child Care Subsidies Increased Again

The child care subsidy is for children who are sent to public and quasi-public child care facilities. All children under the age of 2 who choose public child care centers, community homes, quasi-public child care centers, and child care providers are eligible for the child care subsidy.

(For an introduction of related childcare models, Sunyu also has a column article: Don't be afraid of not being able to afford it anymore, childcare subsidies are waiting for you! https://www.shunyuacademy.com/tw-knowledge/115)

In order to help families reduce their financial burden, the child care subsidy will be increased from January 113 onwards. The original monthly subsidy of $5,500 for public child care institutions will be increased to $7,000, and the original monthly subsidy of $8,500 for quasi-public child care service providers will be increased to $13,000, and there will be additional subsidies for low- and middle-income households, disadvantaged families, and so on. In addition, the monthly subsidy for low- and middle-income households and disadvantaged families will be increased by another $1,000, and that for low-income households and disadvantaged families will be increased by another $2,000. In the face of a childless society, in order to encourage childbearing, the subsidy for the second child will be increased by another $1,000, and the subsidy for the third child or more will be increased by another $2,000, in the hope of significantly reducing the burden of childcare on families with children.

Take the first child as an example; for the second child, the third child (inclusive) or above, and the lower-middle and low-income households, an additional payment will be made.

0-6 years (under age) Increase in subsidy:

Child Care Allowance including subsidy for private nursery school attendance at the age of five $5,000/month

Increase in subsidy for 0-2 years (under age):

Child care subsidy: publicized $7,000/month, quasi-public $13,000/month

Reduced rates for ages 2-6 (under age):

Nursery school monthly payment: public $1,000/month, non-profit $2,000/month, quasi-public $3,000/month (maximum)

In addition to the centralized childcare subsidy, parents whose children are located in Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, and Taichung City can receive additional subsidies from the county or city.
