In the previous two articles, we explored Taiwan's worrying ultra-low fertility rate, the economic pressures behind it, the social shackles, and the crisis of trust exacerbated by the childcare safety incident. However, this is not just an issue that affects individual or family choices. The decades-long trend of low fertility is pushing Taiwan toward a steep "demographic cliff," and the impact will be comprehensive and structural, profoundly affecting the future of every person in the land. Without facing these costs head-on, we cannot truly understand the urgency of taking action.
