According to Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare, there are currently more than 260,000 people with dementia, and it is estimated that in 125 years, the dementia population will reach 550,000, which is an alarming number that will definitely create a heavy burden of care.
Dementia care is a long and challenging road. Family members not only have an additional financial burden, but also affect the quality of life. In particular, letting the dementia caregiver stay at home may bring about physical pain and psychological exhaustion, and family caregivers have to work day and night, and no one can stand the 24-hour non-stop care life, therefore, caregivers most need and feel the most is the "respite service. These services include in-home respite, institutional respite, day care center respite, small-scale multi-functional respite, and alleyway long term care station respite.
Family caregivers applying for respite services should apply to the Long-Term Care Management Center in their place of residence, and after assessment by the Care Management Center, services will be provided by the respite service provider in accordance with the approved benefit amount.

This includes assistance with toileting, bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, eating, medication, turning, back patting, simple mobility activities, getting in and out of bed, escorted exercise, assistance with the use of daily living aids or other services.
