The Hua Shan Foundation's Hsin Chuang Angel Station often receives generous donations of rice, red beans, noodle tea, and instant noodles from various donors, which are then distributed to the elderly.
In order to meet the needs of the elderly, before distributing the goods to the elderly, the station manager of Xinzhuang Angel Station will first understand the needs of the registered elderly through phone calls, for example, some elderly need nutritional supplements such as powdered milk and cereal, so each piece of goods distributed to the elderly has a designated target, and there is no need for the elderly to register. Afterwards, the supplies will be delivered to the elderly's homes by volunteers on bicycles.
In addition to distributing goods, volunteers also provide simple nursing care services such as blood pressure and temperature measurement, and care about and understand the elderly's living conditions, for example, volunteers will warmly remind the elderly to take their medication and meals on time, remember to wear masks when they go out, and pay attention to avoid heat stroke in hot weather, and other important things to pay attention to in their daily lives. We hope that through the conversation, we can understand whether the elderly have other needs, for example, some of them have asked the volunteers for meal coupons, etc., and the volunteers will convey these messages to the station manager for his/her knowledge.
If an elderly person is in need of financial assistance, Wah Shan Foundation will try its best to provide assistance to him/her according to his/her financial situation.
Regardless of whether the elders are dependent (i.e. singleton elders who have children but do not live with them), disabled or mentally retarded, as long as the elders are in need of assistance, Wah Shan Foundation will provide them with appropriate assistance within its capacity. Therefore, sometimes, after understanding the needs of the elderly, the Rural Committee will open a case for the elderly in need to provide services every month, and will take appropriate follow-up actions according to the needs of the case.
