Developed by the Taiwan Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, "Taiwan Social Distance APP" is an epidemic prevention APP developed by the Executive Yuan and the Department of Disease Control of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, with the highest principle of protecting privacy and respecting the user's wishes, and does not require registration or uploading of any personal information, and was built to allow users to instantly grasp the situation of contact with the diagnosed patients and to minimize the spread of epidemics.

The app uses Bluetooth to compare the distance between you and the people around you and to record the contact history within the last 14 days. When you are out and about, you may come into contact with people who are not at risk, and if someone who is at risk is later diagnosed with COVID-19, the APP can help to notify the person who has had contact with the diagnosed person at the first time to find out the possible risk cases. If you meet the alert criteria (contact with a diagnosed person within 2 meters for more than 2 minutes), the APP alert screen will appear on the user's handheld device.
What should I do if I receive an alert message from the app?
Receiving a notification means that you have been within close proximity to the person who confirmed the diagnosis, but does not mean that the diagnosis has been confirmed. The person concerned should pay attention to his/her personal health condition and report to 1922 for assistance if symptoms are suspected. Wear a mask and seek medical attention as soon as possible according to the instructions, and be sure to inform the doctor of travel history, occupation, exposure history, and whether or not the person is in a cluster (TOCC), etc., so as to provide timely notification of the diagnosis. Until the warning message is lifted, an alert will be issued every 4 hours; if the alert needs to be lifted earlier, you can call 02-23922094 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day to assist in the process.
Why can I feel relieved after installing the app?
In fact, it is the Social Distance App that helps you to know the distance to the diagnosed person! Take an A-mei concert for example, if a fan in the rock section is diagnosed, the Social Distance App will alert anyone within 2 meters of the fan who has been with the fan for more than 2 minutes; on the other hand, the audience in the bleachers several meters away from the fan will not be notified because of the low risk of infection. Health authorities are also able to accurately identify closer contacts. If you look at footprints, even if they overlap, it is difficult to know how close you are to the person who confirmed your diagnosis.
