β
The Government After-school Care Service (GACS) aims to provide care services for parents who are unable to take care of their children after school hours because they are working, looking for jobs or for other reasons.
β
β
Includes homework help, parent education, social and developmental activities, group activities, community service or tours.
β
β
The SWD has implemented the Enhanced After School Care Programme (EACP) through some of the organizations operating after-school care services by providing extended service hours on weekday evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and school holidays.
β
β
Under the Fee Remission Scheme, the SWD provides subsidies in the form of full fee waiver, half fee waiver or one-third fee waiver to enable children from low-income families to receive child care services.
β
β
The parent of the child applicant is working, seeking employment, or otherwise unable to care for the child applicant after school hours and includes one of the following conditions
- Student financial assistance schemes of the Student Financial Assistance Agency (i.e. School Textbook Assistance Scheme/Student Travel Subsidy Scheme/Internet Access Subsidy Scheme)
- Working Families Allowance (WFA) of the Office of the Working Families Allowance (OWA)
- Recipients of the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme
- Monthly household income not exceeding the Median Monthly Domestic Household Income (MMDHI)
β
β
Applicants may apply directly to the service units offering after-school care fee remission. The service units concerned will decide whether to grant the remission or not in the light of the after-school care needs of the applicant children and the financial situation of the applicant's family.
β
β
They are located in all 18 districts in Hong Kong. The fee structure and fees vary from one after-school care organization to another.
