基隆市黃姓工程師多年前妻子罹病後就獨自照顧身心障礙、行動不便的女兒，每天帶著她上、下班。今年6月2日中午，鄰居發現黃男家中傳出臭味，且多日未見父女二人出現，擔心兩人狀況，報警處理。警方打開黃家後，發現父女躺在房內，已死亡多日，因黃男遺體腐敗較女兒嚴重，初步推測黃女因父親死後無人照顧，伴屍數日後身亡。 在台灣大多數居住在社區的身心障礙者，均是由父母、手足等(親人)擔任主要照顧者角色，而身心障礙者因身體的特殊性，隨著年齡增長，導致他們在超過35歲就逐漸邁向老化階段，而老化的身障者加上高齡親人的組合，我們稱之為「雙老家庭」。根據統計，台灣的智能障礙者家庭，77%的被照顧者，已經進入老憨兒階段，於是他們更高齡的父母，必須挺著年邁身軀繼續照顧，一旦病逝，家中又沒有其他親人可以接續照顧的話，這些老憨兒連基本的生活自理都不會，生活將立刻陷入困境。台灣將邁入超高齡化社會，使得「雙老家庭」比例逐年升高，台灣身障者家庭正面臨身障者與其照顧者雙重老化之現象，已成為明顯趨勢。

2022/05/23台灣自由時報報導，潘姓補習班負責人兼班主任，涉聯合15歲少女小慈（化名）的母親，製造獨處機會，強行性侵小慈得逞，雖2人都否認犯行，但新北地檢署查出，潘男與小慈母親曾多次討論要由小慈母親提供機會，讓潘男有機會性侵小慈，且潘男曾直接說：「我一定要性侵她們（指小慈與其姐姐）」，小慈母親還予以附和，今依成年人對少年故意犯強制性交等罪嫌起訴潘男與小慈母親。 台灣兒少權益暨身心健康促進協會指出，據衛生福利部統計，2019年性侵害通報案件，8160位受害人中，有超過一半是兒童和少年，比率高達65%，代表每天有14名兒少受到性暴力威脅、每1.7小時就有1名兒少疑被性侵。家扶基金會統計兒童性侵案七成為親人所為，包括父母、兄弟姊妹、親戚及同居人等。這種形式的家內性侵十分難以察覺，小一點的孩子無法清楚表達，大孩子可能遭受威脅恐懼而不敢聲張。
